I’ve made the patcher work with the latest firmwares, and tested it on my 62s.
The patcher itself works fine, but it appears that the firmwares cannot work with the hand-made JNX maps anymore – the device simply hangs if any of the handmade JNX maps are uploaded.
Experiments show that the devices now analyze the map-loader data section (see here). It is in this section where the JNX map group names are stored.
Today or tomorrow, I’ll test the patcher with all recently updated FWs, then I’ll add a GUI, and give you the link to the patcher.
However, I recommend updating to the latest patched FW in just one case – if you are sure all the JNX maps you have were made in BaseCamp.
If you have any hand-made maps (created with mapc2mapc or map2jnx), I strongly discourage you from updating, otherwise your GPS would hang on boot.
I’m going to research the map-loader info section, and change my format spec page accordingly. After this, we all will ask Roger47 and Kiozen to add the map-loader section emulation into their converters.
Also I’ll try to make a tool to convert old-fashioned handmade JNX maps into the format suitable for the latest FWs, so please don’t think that all the maps you have are to be trashed.
Stay tuned
